Safe Screen Share Is Now on Firefox

Safe Screen Share is now on Firefox Add-ons, with every feature the Chrome version has. If Firefox is your main browser, you no longer need to switch to Chrome before a call.

It works the same way: it hides private details on the page itself, so whatever you share or record already shows the blurred version. Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Loom, and OBS all see the same thing.

What you get in Firefox

  • Always hide. Add a name, account number, or word once and it stays hidden on every site, including form fields and tab titles.
  • Blackout. Cover hidden content with solid black instead of a blur.
  • SmartBlur. Finds more than 50 sensitive formats, like emails, phone numbers, card numbers, and API keys, in one click.
  • AI Redact. Catches names, addresses, and account details that have no fixed format. The model runs on your device.
  • Click, text, and area blur. Hide anything by clicking it, selecting it, or drawing a box over it.
  • Meeting Mode. Turns protection on when you open Google Meet, Teams, Zoom on the web, or Webex.
  • Blur Profiles and tab title hiding. Keep a setup per client or task, and hide tab names and icons.

How to install it

  1. Open Safe Screen Share on Firefox Add-ons and click Add to Firefox.
  2. Firefox shows what the add-on needs. The license check is required. Anonymous usage stats are optional, and you can say no.
  3. Open it from the Extensions button (the puzzle piece) in the toolbar. Pin it there so it is one click away during calls.
  4. Already have a license? Paste your key in the popup. New here? You can pick a plan on the pricing page.

You need Firefox 140 or later on Windows, Mac, or Linux. That includes Firefox ESR 140. Firefox for Android is not supported.

One license, both browsers

You don't need a new license. The key you use in Chrome works in Firefox too. Each browser you activate counts as one active browser: Pro covers 3, and Unlimited has no limit. If you hit the limit, remove a browser you no longer use from the manage page.

Your blur rules, Always hide words, and profiles stay in the browser where you made them. They do not sync between Chrome and Firefox, so set up the ones you need in each.

Before your first call in Firefox

  • Open the page you plan to show, run SmartBlur, and check the result before you start sharing.
  • Add the names and numbers you never want on screen to Always hide. They stay hidden on every site from then on.
  • Turn on Meeting Mode if you join calls in the browser, so protection starts without you thinking about it.
  • Keep Firefox's own pages, like Settings and Firefox Add-ons, off screen. Firefox does not let any add-on change them.

Privacy is the same

SmartBlur and AI Redact run on your device in Firefox, just like in Chrome. Page content is not uploaded. AI Redact downloads its model once (about 463 MB) and keeps it on your computer. You can delete it from Settings any time.
