How to Hide Zoom Notifications While Sharing Your Screen

To hide notifications while screen sharing on Zoom, share one application window instead of the entire desktop and turn on Do Not Disturb before the meeting. Then clean the content inside the shared window.

That last part is easy to miss. Do Not Disturb stops new system banners. It does not hide an inbox preview, chat sidebar, customer name, or browser notification already inside the app you chose to share.

Share the smallest useful surface

In the Zoom meeting toolbar, choose Share. Select the specific application window that contains your presentation. Avoid Desktop unless you need to move between several apps and have prepared the whole display.

Zoom also supports sharing a portion of the screen on supported desktop clients. That can be useful for a fixed demo area, but it requires care. Anything moved inside the outlined area becomes visible.

Mute alerts at the operating-system level

On macOS, turn on a Focus mode from Control Center. On Windows, open Notification Center and turn on Do Not Disturb. Check priority exceptions because calls, reminders, or selected apps may still show banners.

Do this before you start sharing. Muting Zoom chat alone does not stop email, calendar, browser, or messaging notifications from other apps.

Clean the window you plan to share

Close personal tabs, collapse sidebars, switch to demo accounts, and hide bookmarks or account menus. If real customer data must stay on the page, blur the fields before the meeting starts.

Use the share preview and the colored share outline to confirm the right window is live. When you need to log in or check a private message, pause or stop sharing first.

Watch for changes during the call

A clean start can still become messy. New tabs open, dashboards refresh, and a colleague may send an in-page chat message. Keep the Zoom sharing toolbar visible enough to pause quickly and avoid improvising in private admin pages.
